Interesting things going on isn't there?

And the Ravenclaws are in a right state too.

Guess when it comes to paper, it's either schoolwork or scandal...

Extremely private. )

Success...

Finally, all the hard work, study and effort is finally paying off, and I'm beginning to see results.

With a little more work I should have it finished and then who knows what I could gain from all this achieve.

I am very pleased with myself right now, oh yes...

Is it just me, or is everyone busier than usual?

So much homework... So much studying... Seventh year's a bitch isn't it?

This may be the opportunity I've been looking for.

With everyone distracted I can get to work on my ... extracurricular studies...

And no one will find me either...

Halloween dance coming up and Merlin I don't want to go.

I'd rather be in the library reading a book but I can't. I tried to get another pass for the Restricted Section but Sprout won't give me one and Pince says the Section is currently off-limits to students. Pince won't say why; just that these are the rules for the time-being right now. You'd think she was trying to cover up a secret or something here.

Sprout on the other hand thinks my grades from the last six years don't "merit your being granted a pass to the Restricted Section," even without the new rules. That and "a young man like you should be mingling with his peers instead of looking over books he has no business reading anyways, since none of his courses requires them to begin with".

Stupid old bats.

I'm gonna have to try and find a costume now - I don't have much time left.

What a terrible thing to have happened to that girl.

I hope she's all right...

Perhaps I should go pay her a visit if they're allowing them at the moment.

Subject:Hexed "Private" to all who might object and interfere...
Time:9:23 pm.
Another year of magical study has ended at Hogwarts, and tomorrow we all head home to begin the next chapter of our lives.

My time in the library here has produced an unexpected new twist in my life. I'd only gone up there to get a head start on my Charms work - as well as something to help me with my Herbology for next year, my NEWT year, but instead I found things I never expected to find at all.

It's like going into a green grocer's to buy a bunch of very ordinary vegetables, and coming out with the most decadent of sweets ever made by human hands.

Anyways, it turns out that Madame Pince and the enter staff at Hogwarts have been keeping a very big secret from the rest of us. I doubt this secret will remain at Hogwarts for very long, because I have a feeling that one half of it will vanish sometime over the summer. Given the way things here at school have been, and the fact that rumours of dark forces gathering have been circulating as of late, anything which may tempt the students into areas they should not be in - at least by our elders' reckoning anyways - should be removed.

I suppose I should get to the point of it all.

Somewhere amongst the Charms and Dark Arts sections of the Restricted section, I found two books that our DADA teacher refused to really cover in-depth - prefering to only mention it in passing. Namely, "A Light in the Darkness: The Dark Arts Revealed" (the book used to train Aurors to combat Dark wizards with), and the "Grimoire Convicium" - a book considered to be so central to any Dark wizard's training that it's banned by magical law, and only those with special permits from the Ministry of Magic itself may gain access to it.

I managed to copy several passages - and even complete chapters - during my time in the Restricted section. I was only given two days there, but two days it seemed was ample time - especially when you've got a couple dozen quills charmed to copy passages from textbooks with (a useful charm I learned back in fourth year - and it's paying off too). In the end, I believe I've got 85% of "Light in the Darkness" copied, as well as about 45% of the Grimoire Convicium.

Now, there were a few items of interest in regards to jynxs, hexes and curses, as well as how to produce magical objects using dark magic, but the most intriging portions of "Light in the Darkness" and Grimoire Convicium had to do with the Unforgivable Curses, especially this passage from 'A Light in the Darkness: The Dark Arts Revealed': )

The Grimoire Convicium mentioned pretty much the same thing, but it also mentioned how to go about learning to cast it. One of the suggestions the Grimoire Convicium made was to "procure a wand that was unowned or unregistered with the Ministry". Given that these are illegal curses, the "witch- or wizard-in-training does not want to be caught before she or he has mastered it, and should take great care in ensuring that she or he remains undetected by those who would otherwise take great exception to their learnings".

It also says that "even when one has learned all three, one only ever really becomes proficient in one. They either become decent at all three, or become extremely proficient in one while their abilities with the others becomes 'passable' at best".

I can't believe Hogwarts kept this from us students.

Then again, I can't believe Hogwarts even managed to get special permission to own a book even the Ministry's top Aurors are forbidden to have.

It looks like the summer of 1978 will be a real adventure for one Lykos A. Mulciber....

[Private from teachers and any students who might tattle.]

It's a Hogsmeade weekend today.

Unfortunately, Sprout told me I can't go, as my grades are still not up to scratch. I'm studying as hard as I can you old bag!!

But that's OK.

Even if she says I can't go, it's not like she can stop me.

There is such a thing as disguise charms, and I'm rather good at charms in general to manage one.

Sprout or no Sprout, I'm off to have fun.

Oh my.

I've almost forgotten about my journal.

But that's OK; I have a good reason for my neglect.

Professor Sprout told me that my Herbology grade was one of the worst she'd seen in twenty years, and that if I wanted to pass the course this year, I'd have to pick up the slack.

So I've been studying like mad over the last couple of weeks.

I don't want to embarrass my Head of House with a poor grade, so study I will.

Though I'm still having trouble with my work.

Perhaps I could ask one of the other students to help me out by tutoring me.

Speaking of education...

I think I remember that nice boy Glideruy... uh Gilderoy talking about us "pooling our resources" and comparing our Charms notes or something like that.

I just hope he remembers to keep it educational, our meet-ups I'm not that kind of boy, sorry.

And now I return to studying. Professor Sprout won't be too happy if she finds out I'm not spending as much time as I can on schoolwork and I'm doing the best I can, Professor. I can only focus on so much at any given time.

Hello all. Did you miss me?

Anyways, my apologies for not being able to communicate with you; I lost my journal. So I had to go and nick buy me a new one.

A really nice one too; and it was even on sale! Well, when I go shopping things magically go on sale.

Convenient, no?

Ah well; at least I'm now able to talk to my friends via these diary things, so it doesn't really matter that I lost the old diary, other than I can't really remember what it was that I wrote in it.

C'est la vie and all that stuff.
